  17. Rocky Mountain NeXT Users Group, in cooperation with the PC Users
  18. Group of Colorado, will be sponsoring a "Windows NT vs. NEXTSTEP
  19. shoot-out." We hope to provide a concise overview of these
  20. competing technologies with side by side demonstrations of both.

  22. Tim Carlin (formerly of NeXT Inc.) of Spatial Technologies will
  23. demonstrate NEXTSTEP.  John Stoddard (co-author of the new book
  24. "Inside Windows NT") of Micro Decisionware will demonstrate
  25. Microsoft's Windows NT. The presentation will be followed by a
  26. question and answer session.

  28. What's comparable to NEXTSTEP?  "How about Windows NT?  It, too, is
  29. a microkernel-based 32-bit multitasking system for networking
  30. environments and requires top-of-the-line hardware.  But NEXTSTEP
  31. is more complete, already established by users and VARs and it is
  32. easier to develop applications for NEXTSTEP than for NT.  NT's
  33. interface is Windows, which is already familiar to millions of
  34. users.  NEXTSTEP's interface is better, in my opinion, but it
  35. does not come with a large supply of pretrained users."
